Guild Alliance
Guild Alliance Information

WHAT:

Our "alliance" is comprised of guilds that wish to join together for events, quests and raids. There will be a calendar of events each month, with two to four events planned each week. Running of the events will be spread out among all alliance guilds. This calendar will be posted on the web site allianceguilds.net approx. 2 weeks prior to the first of the month allowing players to plan and prepare for the event. Doughboy of Casual Alliance will be the managers of the alliance and Uged will manage the web site.
Guilds may be invited to join from time to time if they have intelligent, courteous players.

WHY:

We all like our own guilds, but we sometimes wish we had more members log on at the same time to fill out groups for quests, HQs or raids. We dont want to be in more serious raiding guilds but we still want to taste the content that those guilds offer without complicated DKP (loot) points, minimum number of raids per week, or stat/spell requirements. We just want to have fun exploring the content that needs larger groups of players under an organized, simple set of rules. This alliance will allow us to scratch that itch yet still keep it fun. All events will be optional.

The other thing an alliance does is spread out the work among more people. A guild "coordinator" may work to plan 3 or 4 events per month (less than one per week) but their guild will gain access to 16 or more organized events per month because others are planning them as well. Casual Alliance will work to lead a few more events than the other guilds until the alliance is running smoothly.

A nice side benefit of the alliance is the fact that players who reach higher levels will stay in their own guilds instead of thinking they have outgrown them. In the past, our own guild has seen players leave because we did not give them opportunities to taste content like Claymore, Mark of the Awakened, T7 or T8 raiding. These are now possible with the alliance and players are happy they do not have to leave their "families".

WHO:

There will be an alliance "coordinator" for each guild. Coordinators will converse regularly to suggest events for all levels and who (from their guilds) may wish to lead them. An event will not be inked onto the calendar unless we have a volunteer to lead it. The coordinators do not necessarily need to be the ones to run an event.

Raid / Event leaders can be anyone from any of the alliance guilds that either has experience with the mob or instance zone OR wishes to read up on the quest/mob and try their hand at leading it. The make-up of our guilds and the simple rules of the alliance will reduce the "pressure" on the leader to perform perfectly. As you will see below, the recommended player levels for each event will allow us to "green" or "blue" the mobs to increase the chances of success.

As we get better and more coordinated, each volunteer leader will gain confidence and experience in running an event. This is good for them, the guilds and the entire alliance! Think of it as fun training.

EVENT LEADERS:

When planning for each upcoming month, the guild coordinators will suggest a variety of events for all different levels but will keep in mind the players in their guilds with the interest to lead it. The leader has to know the quest or zone (or read up on it) and type up a brief summery to place on the web site calendar. (samples below) They also have to have a microphone so they can tell the others ("Turn right up here - Now kill the rabid hounds. - They are the placeholders.) There will usually only be 2 or 3 players with a mic: the leader, the main tank and (maybe) the main assist.

RULES

Just because we have an easy-going approach to these events and (possibly) high-level raids it doesn't mean we don't have rules. The following event rules will apply and are designed to be SIMPLE and FAIR.

Alliance rules:

  • The raid/quest leader will make all decisions for better or worse. They will select the players for the raid from those that are at the meeting place on time. Those that show up one or two minutes late will be selected based on need and/or space. If 30 players show up on time for a 24-man raid the leader has complete say in who is selected. If you have camped an alt at the meeting location and they are a class that the raid leader may need, let him/her know in advance. A higher level player may be picked over a lower level player making the raid more effective. A healer may be selected over a mage of the same level. Again, the leader makes the strategy and the players abide by it. If you don't like how a raid is run, you are free to volunteer to run the next one. Any issues with decisions the leader makes are to be brought up with the guild coordinators, NOT at the event itself. If a leader makes lots of bad decisions or plays obvious favorites, it will be taken care of behind the scenes.
  • All selected participants must be logged onto voice chat before we start. If you can not hear the leader on voice chat you may not join the event.
  • Participants must show up to the start location. 1) On time 2) Be fully mended 3) Have player made food and drink appropriate for their level 4) Be fully equipped with no empty armor, weapon or jewelry slots. (There is no requirement on the quality of armor or spells you bring with you. We are not armor-snobs.)
  • Read and follow the Ten Commandments of Raiding" printed below. These are the basic and time-honored guidelines for running a successful event.
  • Be accepting of all the different personalities you will encounter during these events. (Low-key, authoritative, joking, serious, etc.) The only caveat is we will not be very tolerant of those who swear or put down other players.
  • Raid times tend to be very fluid. We will try to plan raid end times accurately but keep a 15-minute buffer available. If a raid is planned to end around 10 pm and the end boss goes later, no one will fault you if you stay till 10:15 and leave then. Mobs that take a long time to pop will be scheduled as follows: Time: 8 pm EST to "until he pops!" In those cases, be prepared to stay for as many as 4 hours if you choose to attend.
  • Loot Rules: We use "Need before Greed".  We do not use any form of DKP. If a drop is for a certain class, only that class may roll on it.... and only if it is an upgrade for them.  If it is a Master, and that class is not represented in the raid it a "random 100" with the highest roll getting it. There will usually be a one Fabled item per person limit to give everyone a chance to win loot. All Alliance events are optional! But if you do show up, you should follow the above rules for the success of the event.

The Ten Commandments of Raiding

  • Stay alert and follow the raid leaders instructions. If you have a suggestion you strongly want to make, do it with a private tell. (The raid leader and the main tanks will have their microphones on.)
  • Know the difference between the Main Tank (MT), the Main Assist (MT), and the Off Tank (OT). We will assume that the tanks know how to tank.
  • Make three or four different macros such as ON ME! or Out of Power! and use them.
  • Stand behind the mob! (The tank will usually turn the mob.) Casters should stay at the very limit of their casting range to avoid those nasty AOEs.
  • Wait till the MT gets aggro (usually after 2 or 3 hits/spells or 6-10 seconds) before blasting away. Some Main tanks have a macro to let you know when to begin assisting.
  • If you obtain unwanted aggro, use your ON ME macro and stand still! Do not run around or switch your attacks to the mob attacking you.
  • Use HOs! The raid leader will say who starts them.
  • Remember to cast and re-cast your friend and group buffs! Many of them will time out.
  • In the event of a RL interruption, state in raid chat-Emergency AFK.- Auto-follow on--- Then re-confirm with the player you are auto-following before you leave.
  • You go after gathering nodes or sparklies at your own risk. If you get aggro and put the group at risk, you may be banned from future events.

CA voice chat Rules

  • LIMIT swearing. Anything beyond a quick, unplanned slip of the tongue will not be tolerated. (Especially the use of the F-word) It doesnt matter if you are raiding or grouping.  (Chatting with a buddy in a small group is obviously different.)
  • No rude comments or jokes. Please stick to chatting about the game.
  • No negative talk about other players, even if they are not on.
  • Be polite and respectful.
