Guild Description
Casual Alliance Guild Description

Following is a complete description of our guild along with its basic values and objectives. Whether you are a member or prospective member, if we share the same philosophy and goals we will grow and prosper together as we explore Norrath. This page is divided into 9 sections that should answer any questions about whether this is the right guild for you:

1. Basic description of the guild
2. Guild alliance, monthly calendar, Ventilo and Alliance chat
3. Guild Goals
4. Is CA a place for experienced, high-level players?
5. Why would a new player want to join our guild?
6. Guild web sites
7. Guild Incentives and awards
8. Guild rules
9. Frequently asked questions (this is a link at the bottom of the page to a list of 20 commonly asked questions about CA)

If you end up liking what you read here, you are welcome to ask Doughboy, Maximis, Swampwater, or Uged for an invite. If they are not on, ask any guild member for an invite.

Basic Description of the guild - What does "Casual Alliance" mean?

The "casual" part means we are accepting of everyone's play style:
- Whether you log on twice a week or play 8 hours a day.
- Whether you do light questing or heavy-duty grinding.
- Whether you like soloing, grouping, crafting, raiding, etc., we believe that everyone brings something to the table. You are never required to do anything you don't enjoy or don't have the time (or desire) to do.

Anyone is welcome to join, stay, and prosper if they believe in what we stand for and follow a few simple guild rules. Those rules are detailed below and on the guild Charter/Rules page.

The "alliance" part is two-fold...
Internally, it mean we are a group of highly diverse people that share similar interests and philosoph. Although EQ2 has plenty of content for players who like to solo, our guild is like a family that we can easily join with to explore the exciting content that only larger groups can experience.

Externally, it means that we maintain great relationships with other guilds and have resources to pull in other players (if needed) for high-level raids.

Guild Alliance, Monthly Calendar, Alliance Chat

CA hosts an "alliance" with 6 other guilds that enable access to a large base of players for those raids or quests that need larger numbers. All the alliance guilds share our casual philosophy but still enjoy raiding high level bosses, collecting Fabled items, and decking out our toons in the best equipment and spells. We just like to do it without the strict and time-consuming requirements that exist in so many other guilds.

Our alliance web site allianceguilds.net has a monthly calendar of scheduled events, quests, HQ's and raids. Usually 3 events a week are scheduled in advance with posted leaders. Participation is optional. Your help is always appreciated but you only need to do the ones you want or need. As far as drops go, we do not have a "provincialistic" attitude where only our guild members have permission to loot.

If we need other players for a raid, they have the same chance for a rare drop as everyone else. Alliance raids do not use any form of DKP.

CA and the alliance use the in-game voice chat for all raids. Particpants are required to have a least "listening" capability to hear the raid or group leaders. Having a microphone is optional.

The alliance also uses an in-game, custom chat channel so we can communicate with all of the alliance guilds. This is used to form pick-up groups and has been very successful in getting the basics of a group or raid together quickly prior to asking through /ooc or world-wide chat.

Guild Goals: Here are the top 10:

1. To be the premier home for players who enjoy a more casual play style but dont want to be in a small guild or in one that rarely raids.

2. To be large enough to give members the opportunity to group easily at every level.

3. To be very well organized and very clear about our guild goals, policies and rankings set-up.

4. To continually reach for the highest level guild status and the associated recognition and rewards. (We are currently a level 80 guild with a T3 guild hall and all amenities.)

5. To encourage helpful cooperation within the guild. We guide players wishing to help into areas and things they enjoy doing. (If the guild helps you, we hope that you can return the favor with your special talents.)

6. Allow all guild members the opportunity to obtain the very best crafted spells and armor. This is done by offering the services of high-level crafters and spell-makers of every profession. There are also the weekly quests and raids for those unique treasure drops.)

7. To have officers available during most hours of the day to offer guidance if needed.

8. To assist players new to the game with help such as ...Where is the named lion for the Lightstone quest? ...Where do I buy the 60+ spell scrolls? ...Where is the best solo and group XP for my particular level. We do this primarily through in-game chat.

9. To offer creative incentives for those who help the guild achieve the above goals. (Bank 4 awards, crafting awards, writ incentives, etc.)

10. We will not only help you, we will help you help yourself. (Give an Ogre a fairy and he has food for a day, but teach an Ogre to kill fairies and he has food for a lifetime.)

Is CA a place for experienced, high-level players?

We are fully aware of that small percent of end-game content in EQ2 that will only be touched by highly organized guilds. They have developed strategies for those high-level bosses that they keep top-secret because they have raid-wiped many times as they learn how to take them out. They do this for the challenge, because they can't level anymore (XP anyway) and they have the time to sit and wait in raids for that elusive treasure drop.

If you want this type of content, CA is probably not the guild for you. We are happy with the 95% that can be done by intelligent players with a play style that is less intense. If you long to be wearing the very latest and very best Fabled gear and dream of getting a Mythical item, again, CA is not for you.

If you grow into a player that desires that type of content, you may leave at any time and we will wish you the best of luck. But keep in mind that we see players leave raid guilds all the time due to loot access, tiresome guild drama and time-constraint reasons. Many of these players have found a home in Casual Alliance because of our "approach-to-the-game" that brings back the fun for them. No one should ever become burnt out in what is supposed to be a game.

If, in your journey to level 80, you have developed a specific interest in one of the hundreds of fun things this game offers, our officers, guild or alliance will help you find others with the same goals or will allow you to lead such quests/events with support from our alliance. If you think you are interested in joining CA, please contact a leader if you have additional questions. We will be honest in what our guild does (or does not) offer.

Why would a new player want to join our guild?

That should become clear as you read through all the info here. Helpful players, organization, guild alliance, and a lack of that tiresome guild "drama".

Guild Website

allianceguilds.net
This is the main web site for our guild as well as the guild alliance. This site you are on right now (casualalliance.eq2guilds.org) is just for giving basic information about our guild. Check the alliance site for other content, raid tips, alliance forums, and the alliance event calendar!

Incentives:

In CA we will give you the tools with which to do this without the pressure to log on every night, or feel like an outcast if you don't. Many intelligent players don't have hours each day to fully explore Norrath or learn all the aspects their character class. CA understands this.

Our guild site is full of helpful internet links to sites that explain how to make more gold, or to craft well, play the mage class, learn what city writs are and where to get them, where the best XP is for each level, etc.

If you like to craft, we have incentives for crafting professions the guild needs. We also can provide much of the gathers you need if you help the guild members in return. If you do writs that help the guild level, we may have monetary prizes for that.

If you do lots of Heritage Quests or we see that you are coming to a player's aid when they ask for help, we will we will usually notice and we have weekly bank 4 prizes we award for that. We also offer incentives in the form of promotions in rank.

Bottom line: the officers are always watching the Events board and if you consistently help the guild it will be noticed.

Guild Rules:

Although a few of these are "rules" in the strict sense, most of the following 10 are guidelines. If you agree with the majority of these "guidelines" then you are in the right guild.

1. Thoroughly understand our guild description, goals and these 15 rules and work to uphold those values. Do not join this guild if following these guidelines will be difficult for you to follow. All CA members have the ability to invite fellow members into the guild and must be able to answer questions of prospective members.

2. Communicate with your officers! Officers are on all the time and you can communicate with them through in-game mail, Ventrilo or tells. There is no excuse for not letting us know if:
a. you are not having fun
b. feel you are missing out on anything
c. if you disagree with any decision or action the guild has made.
d. if your interests and goals drift away from those of the guild.

The leaders want to hear from you. It is their job to look at the concern from all angles, especially yours. Please do not stay silent. Maybe there are things we can do better and we can't improve if we dont hear from you. (Guild chat is not the place to air your concerns.)

3. Play intelligently, politely and respectfully. You are mostly free to do what you want, with no peer pressure. But we ask that you be patient, ethical and respectful of everyone you meet in-game. If you leave a pick-up group because they are making "poor choices", please do so at the right time and with a polite word.

4. Learn your character. CA leaders, officers and members will do our best to help you learn.

5. Check your mail and the guild MOTD often and keep enough room in your mailbox for guild mail and updates. This is extremely important.

6. Do writs if you have time. It is not required though.

7. Please do not spam chat on the world channels. (it makes the guild look bad).

8. Use your guild invite power wisely. All guild members (except recruits) are given the ability to invite guild members.

9. Anyone is welcome to join Casual Alliance at any time. Players may leave at any time as well but we expect them to be courteous and let an officer know why before they leave.

10. We have a 120-day inactive policy. If a character has not logged on for 4 months, that character is considered part of a cancelled account and may be removed from the guild roster. If you wish to take extended leave, please make note under your character name in the guild roster and you will be allowed 6 months of inactivity before we remove your character. All members being removed will receive mail stating they are welcome back into the guild once they start playing again. Removal is done for Leader convenience and "bookkeeping" and not as punishment.

If you like what you read here then we would be happy to welcome you into the guild. Just send a tell to Doughboy, Swampwater, or Uged in-game for more info or a guild invite.
